MPP-1 |
The MPP-1 is an ultra-high performance single channel bass preamplifier designed for the player who's looking for flexibility and powerful tone shaping capability with extremely low noise and distortion.
It was developed over the course of the last few years in the international trenches and in the clubs and venues of NY and DC. All parts have been carefully selected to work well together in order to create a powerful and flexible tool for any bassist in any situation. Whether you're playing in the local haunt or a stadium, I believe the sound you need is in here. |
MPP-2 |
The MPP-2 dual channel preamp is literally two MPP-1 preamp circuits put into one box. Each channel of the MPP-2 shares all of the performance and functionality of the MPP-1. They share a master mute switch, master volume control, line input and headphone driver. The master mute mutes both channels at the main out but leaves the DI's and headphone outputs on. Both channels are mixed in a zero loading summing circuit and are fed to both the headphone driver and a single main balanced output on both XLR and TRS connectors with a main ground lift. The DI's are totally discrete from one another and are sent out of two separate XLR connectors on the back panel but can also be "linked" through a lossless summing circuit with the DI link switch located near the DI gain for channel 1. Engaging the link mode puts both channels' DI's into both DI XLR outputs. The DI gain control of each channel still controls only the level of that channel, so you have mix control over the 2 instruments at your rig. So if you're using the MPP-2 with 2 different basses that will both go to a single channel of a house console, linking the DI's is what you want to do. If you're running an electric bass and an acoustic bass and want to send 2 separate lines to 2 channels of the house console, you'll run the DI's discrete. Crosstalk between the two is essentially non-existent. |
Mitre Box |
The Mitre Box is a high performance bass preamplifier/headphone monitoring system which I believe represents a carefully tuned balance of boutique performance and every-day value. I've spent a lot of time combing through the MPP-1's design and identifying areas where the most cost could be removed with the least impact on sound and flexibility. I was able to do a lot of what I did in the MPP-1, but in different ways which yielded lower parts cost. A few key infrastructure changes ended up saving me a lot of build time too. I was able to add an effects loop and a fully balanced stereo input to the headphone driver so it works great in a live in-ear monitoring system, in the studio as a self monitor, or as a ridiculously great sounding practice amp. It's small enough to slip in your gig bag which makes it a great choice to go along with powered speakers like the Bergantino IP cabinets. The end result is a much more affordable preamp that still performs like crazy. -High performance, low noise and distortion-Powerful Headphone driver with balanced stereo input for in-ear monitoring systems -Same great EQ circuit topology as the MPP-1 -Small and compact. -A great mate for powered speaker cabinets like the Bergantino IP's -Serial or Parallel effects loop -High quality DI output with Pre EQ/Post EQ (and FX) switch |
